Clara Astri (Mjoen) Southwick, December 22, 1917 - October 10, 2009
Clara passed away peacefully and has gone to join her husband James Ray (Jim), who has been saving a dance for her since May 29, 1986. Clara was born in Frontier, Saskatchewan. She took her nurses training in Medicine Hat, Alberta and came to Vancouver, British Columbia to work at St. Pauls Hospital where she met Jim Southwick.
Later she worked at Burnaby Hospital, Burnaby, British Columbia.
Clara was predeceased by her husband Jim, sisters Sara (Andy), Myrtle (Ken) and Hilda (Bob), nephew Garth. She is survived by her son Les and daughter Doreen Hembree and her grandchildren Graham, Reid, Caitlin and Kori and many nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Faulkner and the staff and caregivers at Richmond Hospital and Minoru Rest Home, Richmond, British Columbia.
A Viewing will be held on Friday, October 23, 2009 from 5:00p.m. to 7:00p.m. in Ocean View Chapel, 4000 Imperial Street, Burnaby, B.C. with a Service on Saturday, October 24, 2009 at 10:00 a.m.
