OBITUARY: Clara Gore was born in Hamilton township, Decatur county, Iow a, on the second day of February 1866, and passed from this life to the l ife triumphant on Jan. 19, 1914, she lacking but a few days of being 48 y ears old. Many weeks ago she was taken bedfast by an attack of inflamma tory rheumatism and from this disease she had steadily grown weaker and a g reat sufferer until Death graciously relieved her from pain. Her affect ion has been terrible and more than flesh and blood could bear, but all t hrough it she has borne up heroically. Practically all of Mrs. Turpen's l ifetime has been spent in and around Davis City and vicinity and she is f amiliarly known to all. There she has been known as child, girl and wom an. She was the next oldest of twelve children, born to Mr. and Mrs. Ro bert Gore, seven of whom with the father, are dead. Five brothers survi ve and mourn her loss, together with the mother, husband and sons. She w as married to Henry Turpen on the 15th day of October 1882, and to this u nion were born ten children. Only three of whom are living, Otto, Rober t and Roy. She was converted to Jesus Christ and accepted Him as her Re deemer about 18 years ago and at that time united with the Methodist ch urch. She has been a faithful member ever since and insofar as possible h as done all in her power to further the cause. She has been a good wife , a kind mother and a sympathetic neighbor and friend, and her death is t ruly mourned. Funeral services were held at the M. E. church, Monday af ternoon at Davis City at 2:30 conducted by the pastor, Rev. E. A. Place . Internment was in the old cemetery at Davis City.
