Clare M. Adamchik, age 83 of Portage, passed away on Monday, January 9, 2012. She was born on December 28, 1928 to the late John B. and Amelia Adamchik in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. She graduated from St. Francis University with a bachelors degree and went on to earn a Masters degree from Indiana University in Education. Clare retired in 1989 from St. Bridget School where she taught for 22 of her 56 years of teaching. She was a longtime Portage resident and enjoyed collecting stamps and coins.

Clare is survived by her brother, John S. (Rosalie) Adamchik of Hobart; Nieces and Nephews, David Adamchik, Patricia Adamchik, Billie (Lanny) Dixon, Jack (Lynn) Adamchik, Clara Ann (John) Henderson, Becky Mizell and Kathy (Joe) Haughwout.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Bill (Julie) Adamchik, 3 sisters Dorothy A. (Walter) Momola, Mildred M. (Victor) De Dea and Christine (Bill) Dean.

Funeral services will be Friday, January 13, 2012, beginning with 9:30 a.m. prayers at Rees Funeral Home, 600 W. Old Ridge Road Hobart and proceeding to Assumption B.V.M Catholic Church for a 10:00 am Mass of Christian Burial with Rev. Lourdu Pasala officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, January 12, 2012 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a 4:30 p.m. prayer service at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel.
