findagrave.com - Clarence Edgar Davis b. 23 Nov 1879 d. 10 Dec 1932. "Clarence Edgar Davis died at his home in the Pine Grove community Saturday morning after an illness of only a few days. He became ill the Sunday previous. On Monday his case was diagnosed as pneumonia. Mr. Davis was born, Nov. 23, 1879. On Dec. 6th, 1903 he was married to Miss Addie Eddins. Mr. Davis was one of Chesterfield County's good citizens. For a number of years he was road supervisor and left an indelible imprint on the county by his good work while in that office. He was a successful farmer and a man of good works in his community. He was an active member of the Zoar Methodist Church. He is survived by his widow and the following children: Mrs. Foster King of Salisbury, Boyce Davis of Winston-Salem, Mrs. Bruce Watson and Acy Lee and Mary Davis of Chesterfield; six sisters, Mrs. A. L. Griggs, Mrs. E. T. Teal, Mrs. Irene Miller and Mrs. Minnie Mauldin of Chesterfield, Mrs. Lillie Winfrey of Anderson and Mrs. A. M. Gardner of Olanta; six brothers, J. J., J. Colen, Ernest and Will Davis, all of Chesterfield, Hoy W. of Elliston, Va., and L. F. Davis of Roanoke. Interment was in Pine Grove churchyard Sunday morning at 11 o'clock, the Rev. Gobe Smith in charge. Pallbearers were: Ira C. Mauldin, Sherwood Davis, Thomas Miller, Earl Teal, George Eddins, and John White. Among those from out of town to attend the funeral were: Miss Lillie Stultz, Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Kane, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Chatman, Winston-Salem; Mr. and Mrs. C. V. Shankle, High Point; Mr. Fred Dunn, Charlotte; Mr. and Mrs. George Grey, Wadesboro; Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Ratliff, Mrs. Charlie Ratliff, Dr. Williams, Mr. Duncan Davis, Mr. Lester Johnson, Mr. Ira Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Parker, Morven; Mr. and Mrs. Jimmie Hutchinson, Mr. and Mrs. T. L. Ingram, Mrs. J. T. Nicholson, Cheraw; Mr. R. L. Garland, Jefferson; Mr. Marion Johnson, Hartsville; Mr. D. M. Clarence Edgar Davis was a successful planter and fine businessman. For a number of years he was Chesterfield County Road Supervisor. He was a member of Zoar M. E. Church.

Clarence married Addeline "Addie" Lora Eddins on December 06, 1903. She was a daughter of Rev. Andrew Jackson "Jack" Eddins and Dorothy "Dollie" Thurman Eddins.

Addie was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church and they are both buried in this cemetery.
