Obituary: Clarence Ellis Merwin, 59 of 1912 West Fourth St, died at his home suddenly Saturday, Oct. 4. Funeral for Mr. Merwin will be held at First Church of the Nazarene, 10th and Colorado, Wednesday, Oct, 8 at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Fairview cemetery. Those desiring, in lieu of flowers, may make a contribution to a memorial at the church.
Mr. Merwin was born in Holly, Sept 26, 1910. He married Darline Roberts at Syracuse, Kan. Dec. 14, 1933. The couple had been valley residents since their marriage with the exception of six years during World War II. They have lived in La Junta since 1952. At the time of his death he was food stamp cashier for Otero County Welfare Department.
Survivors include his widow, Darline of the home; three sons, Roger Paul, Kenneth Edgar, Dwight Ellis all of La Junta; two daughters, Mrs. Lorna Hare, Biloxi, Miss; Mrs. Sue Ann Pearsall, Colorado Springs; seven grandchildren; three brothers, Charles O Merwin, Canon City, Elmer L Wright and Paul F. Wright, Fort Worth, Tex; two sisters, Mrs Olive Leeper, Colorado Springs; Mrs Lora Ritter, Montebello, Calif.
