About Clarence Milton Sauer
Clarence M. Sauer died the morning of Wed., Nov. 15 in Lewis County General Hospital. He had been a resident of the Lewis County Residential Health Care Facility.
Born July 11, 1921, son of George and Bertha Meister Sauer, he attended Beaver Falls schools. He served in the Army during World War II, from 1942 to 1945. He married Gertrude M. Wilson on Jan. 29,1945, at the Carthage Methodist Church parsonage with the Rev. William K. Bradshaw officiating.
Mr. Sauer worked as a mechanic and truck driver for D.L. Reed Trucking and Les Card Sand & Gravel, both of Carthage, and the town of Wilna until his retirement in 1985.
He was a member of Dionne-Rumble Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7227, Carthage.
Surviving besides his wife, Gertrude, are three daughters, Connie Duncan, Glenfield, Kris Parsons, West Leyden, and Barbara Hellinger, Lowville; a son, Daniel, Lowville; three sisters, Mrs. Walter (Emma) Segovis, Lowville, Evelyn Woolschlager, Jamestown, Pa., and Mrs. Ned (Velma) Tudi, Canastota; two brothers, Carlton, Florida, and Llewellyn, Vermont, 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
A brother, Lyle Sauer, died before him.
Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery, Naumburg.
