OBITUARY - Wapello Republican, Wapello, Iowa, Thursday, May 17, 1934:
MRS. SILAS RUBY DIES SUDDENLY - Fell Dead In Her Home Here While At Work -FUNERAL HELD WEDNESDAY P.M. Funeral services for Mrs. Clarissa Ruby, who dropped dead Tuesday morning in the home of her sister, Miss Vina Staats, were held from the home Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. W. J. Woodruff conducted the Christian Science reading; Mrs. Clintha Sanders and Mrs. Nellie Stroup sang "Come Unto Me" and Mrs. Richard Burroughs, of Davenport, sang "Safe in the Arms of Jesus". Interment was in the Harrison cemetery, the pallbearers being Leonard, George, Luther, Lee, Carl, and Loren Staats, all nephews of the deceased. Clarissa Staats was born in Linn county Nov. 19, 1862. She was married to Silas Ruby, who preceded her in death. Surviving are four daughters and one son, Mrs. Harry Finley, Mrs. Maud Shaw, Wapello; Mrs. Clayton Jacobs, Mrs. Louise Steinhouser and George Ruby, of Davenport; also one sister and one brother, Miss Vina and Ed Staats, of Wapello.
