KNIGHT, CLAUDE NORMAN, 71, passed away Thursday, March 8, 2007 at his home. Mr. Knight was born January 8, 1936 in Kentucky, the son of Carl and Aleene Miller Knight. He was a retired City of Salem employee and a self employed carpenter. He was a member of a non-denominational church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Russell Knight in 2000; his parents, four brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his wife, the former, Laura Pixley; three sons, Paul, Keith, and Melvin Knight of Salem; a daughter, Teresa Benhke of Salem; three brothers, Bud and Clay Knight both of Sellersburg and Goebel Knight of Pekin; four sisters, Nancy Moore of Scottsburg, Bertha Spaulding of Sellersburg, Linda Crane of Salem and Betty Creed of Richmond, VA; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 17, at Weathers Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Beech Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. Saturday until service.
