About Clay Patterson
Clay Patterson, second child of Harry W. and Winnona (Dale) Patterson, was born April 13, 1919 near Springview, Nebraska. He graduated from Keya Paha High School and vocational college in Bellevue, Nebraska. Clay served as a radio operator in the United States Army Air Corps from April 1942 until November 1943, where he was stationed in the Aleutian Islands. He was shellshocked and his buddy was killed while they were in a foxhole there. Clay was discharged to run the family farm upon the death of his father. After World War II, he made his home in Ainsworth, Nebraska, where he cared for his mother in her later years. Clay was very interested and active in the V.F.W. Post #7849. He liked music and played multiple stringed instruments and the harmonica. Clay was an avid reader and enjoyed keeping abreast with current affairs. He was self-employed most of his life and was proficient in serveral fields of endeavor.
Clay was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Pearl Rohde. He is survived by one brother, Tom Patterson of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas; two sisters, Frances Sullivan of Protalnd, Oregon and Rilla, Mrs. Charles Templeton, of Silverton, Oregon; and many nieces and nephews.
