About Clayton Mark, Jr.

Clayton Mark Jr. graduated in 1912 from the University of Illinois, and then joined his father's firm, Mark Manufacturing, in Chicago. In 1920, the company merged with Steel and Tube Co of America; in 1923, the company was sold to Youngstown Sheet and Tube Company. Clayton Mark, Jr., his father, and his brother, Cyrus Mark (1900-1963) at that time organized Clayton Mark & Co of Chicago. The plant moved to Evanston, IL in 1938.

Mark was married to Gladys Stephens, with whom he had two sons, Clayton Mark III (married Nancy Weeks in 1917) and Stephen who married Ann Sternberg.

Clayton Mark, age 59, died of a sudden heart attack at his home at 336 Sheridan Rd., Wilmette, IL
