Clifford S. Bechtel, formerly of Souderton, died Monday, October 12, 2009, in the Peter Becker Community, Franconia Twp. He was 90. He was the husband of 67 years of Blanche S. (Detweiler) Bechtel.

Born in Woxall, he was a son of the late Henry K. and Lizzie (Styer) Bechtel.

Mr. Bechtel was employed as a truck driver for Contract Service, Inc., Souderton, for over 30 years until retiring in 1980. Following his retirement, he worked part-time as a custodian for the Lansdale Baptist Church, Lansdale.

He was a member of the Indian Creek Church of the Brethren, Harleysville.

An avid bowler, Mr. Bechtel was a former league member at the Earl Bowl Lanes, Earlington.

Surviving with his wife are a daughter, Carolyn Bechtel, of Souderton; a son, Robert Bechtel and his wife, Beverly, of Virginia Beach, VA; two grandchildren, Christopher Bechtel and his wife, Michelle, of Virginia Beach, and Melissa Davidson and her husband, James, of Morgantown, WV; two great-grandchildren, Ella Bechtel and Quincy Davidson; and a brother, Raymond Bechtel and his wife, Marie, of Quakertown.

He was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister, Ella Mae, Paul, Edwin, Walter and Henry.

Memorial Services were held Friday, Oct. 16, at 10AM in the chapel at the Peter Becker Community, Harleysville.
