About Col Harold Bentley Eagle
In 1941 Harold entered the US Army as First Lieutenant of Infantry, having obtained his commission in the army reserve while a student at WV University, and served during the entire period of World War II. In 1951 he was recalled to the Army to participate as an officer in the Army during the Korean War. He served two years in Korea . Upon his release returned to Hinton to serve as an officer in the US Army Reserve after servubg thirty years in the active United States Army and retired as a Colonel in 1966.
Harold and Doris Loomis were married in Lynchburg, VA on January 25, 1940. After returning from military service in 1946 he was elected as a delegate for Summers County to the State Legislature and served in that body until 1948. Harold was elected Mayor of the City of Hinton in 1953 and served six terms for a total of twelve years in that capacity. In 1980 he was elected Prosecuting Attorney of Summers County and served until December 1984.
Harold and Doris had one son, Harold Bradley Eagle born on February 15, 1957.
