He was the son of: Col. Richard Callaway (killed by Indians as he worked with his slaves near Boonesborough; his body was scalped, mutilated, and rolled into a mud hole)(murder described on page 113 of a book entitled "Daniel Boone: The Life and Legend of an American Pioneer"
