Col. Joseph Hammond

He married Hannah Storer, eldest daughter of Joseph & Hannah Storer, of wells, on 19 Sep 1699 in Wells, (Maine) Massachusetts Bay. She was born Thursday, 6 May 1680 & died 21 May 1765. He died 26 Jan 1753 in Kittery, York, (Maine) Massachusetts Bay.

Joseph "held at various times nearly every Town office. He represented Kittery at General Court 7 years & for 12 successive years was elected to the Council of Massachusetts, commencing in 1718. He was Colonel of the Militia many years. A Judge of the Court of Common Please 10 years. Register of Probate & Recorder of Deeds several years. He became a member of the Congregational Church in Eliot at the time of its organization, June 22, 1721."

Joseph & Hannah Hammond had 5 sons (Joseph, George, Elisha, John, and Jonathan) & 4 daughters (Hannah, Dorcas, Abigail, and Catherine).
