There were 10 companies in the Butler's Rangers and a Peter Hare was Captain of one of them. I wonder if this is the same P.H? There is also a Colonel Peter Hare listed somewhere. I wonder if this is the same guy? Looking... 

Peter Hare Information MILITARY: Peter was a Captain in Butler's Rangers , serving in the War of the Revolution. After the war Captain Hare moved to Lincoln County, Ontario with his wife. He is mentioned in the Companies of Loyalists Incorporated in the Corp of Rangers, thusly, "Company - Captain Hare - 52 men, 9 women, 10 boys, 14 girls, total: 85. LAND: Captain Peter Hare was granted land in the Niagara District, Lot 1, Con 1 Clinton and in 1784 he had cleared 25 acres.

FAMILY HISTORY: Vol. 5, Annals of the Forty: Captain Peter Hare was Paymaster in the Indian Department and that the Indians came in canoes every year for their pay and presents to the Jordan. He knew and was a great friend of Capt. Joseph Brant. Peter was married three times. His first wife was Elizabeth Petree, a French lady, whom he married in October 1777 in the Mohawk Valley. They had two children. Elizabeth died in 1785 and Peter married Catherine Greenwalt in 1787. After Catherine's death, Peter married Margaret Secord, widow of Solomon Secord. They had one daughter, Margaret. CEMETERY: Snure Cemetery, Jordan, Louth Twp., Lincoln Co., Ontario, there is erected a stone in memory of Col. Peter Hare. The inscription reads: "In memory of Peter Hare Senior, who was born May 11th 1748, and departed this life April 6th 1834, aged 85 years, 11 months." Margaret is buried in Homer, Niagara Twp, Lincoln Co., Ontario

MILITARY: Isaac Walker served as a private with the 4th Lincoln Regiment, in the War of 1812 and died of disease. It is was not recorded who Isaac's wide was on the list of those to receive pensions, those listed were the orphan children of Isaac Walker, which would indicate that his wife died before his pension (20 pounds) was applied for.

FAMILY HISTORY: The history of the Hare family was secured from the Late Mrs. Donald Clark (Maud Hare).

MILITARY: Captain in the 4th. Lincoln Regiment receiving his commission 19 Apr 1822. He married Magdalena Secord, she was born 3 Mar 1794, died 15 June 1846. In 1847 Peter married Jane Marlatt McGaw, widow. They both died in 1856. Peter is buried at Jordan, Jane in the Baptist churchyard, Beamsville in the McGaw lot.
