Graduate of the University of North Carolina in 1833.
Colonel in the State Militia. Cotton planter and lawyer. In 1843, the Legislature made him one of the original Trustees of Henderson Academy.
His ancestors were the Williams and Jones families of North Carolina and the Jones, Armistead, Tabb, and Westwood families of Virginia.
Protheus Eppes Armistead Jones (P.E.A. Jones) and Mary Hawkins Jones were married in 1835. They had eight children.
Their son William Westwood Jones (Memorial # 73900250) married Elizabeth Earl Johnson (Memorial # 73829797).
Their Daughter Mary Frances Jones married (1st) Omega H. Foster of Franklin County, N.C. (1835- Oct. 1, 1864) in 1859 and (2nd) John Bott Burwell of Peace Institute in 1880.
Their Daughter Lucy H. Jones married (second wife of) Richard J. Harris.
Their son Armistead Jones married Nancy Haywood Branch. Their son Thomas Norman Jones married Katherine Gifford Skelton (Memorial # 93306662).
Their son John H. Jones was unmarried.
Their daughter Jane Jones married Colonel David George Cowand.
Their daughter Elizabeth (Bettie) Jones married (first wife of) Richard J. Harris.
Their sons William W. Jones, John H. Jones and Armistead Jones served in the Civil War.
