Colin Bone (1947 – 2023)
Brief overview:
Colin (76) who lived alone with his three Jack Russels, on his smallholding farm outside Groot-Brakrivier, near Reebokfontein, was attacked and bludgeoned with a pick-axe handle, on 17th September 2023. He was taken to a hospital in George, then airlifted to the Groote Schuur hospital in Cape Town in a critical condition. Colin was in a coma and passed away in hospital on 27th September.
A neighbour, Tiny Lourenco, who had an appointment with Colin, came upon the scene. "The neighbour saw that the garage and the back door were open and then came across the bloodied victim in the house." "I walked around the house and saw blood at the back door. Colin's glasses were lying in a ditch and I immediately called the police."
One of Colin's Jack Russels was hiding under a bed and the other two were lying with Colin.
One man, aged 29, was arrested, but It is not yet known how many attackers were involved in the attack.

- The suspect briefly appeared in the Great Brak River Magistrates Court on a charge of house robbery and attempted murder. However, he is due back in court again on 2nd October where the charge is likely to be changed to one of murder.
