Collin (63), was shot dead in his kitchen whilst making tea, on his Meyerton smallholding, around 17h00 on 5th February 2010, said police spokesperson Shado Mashobane. Two female neighbour's found Collin.
It is not known how many attackers were there or how they gained access to the home.
Mashobane said the two women found him dead in the kitchen. He had two bullet wounds to his torso. "According to the women, the door was open and the outside lights were on. "Officers at the scene found a windbreaker and flashlight near the man's body," Mashobane said. He added the attackers would have forced McLaud to open the safe before they shot him.
The robbers allegedly took four hunting rifles from the safe and left behind the weapons' licenses.
Mashobane said McLaud was alone when he was attacked. His wife was in Germiston at the time.
No one has been arrested in connection with the murder yet. A case of murder and armed robbery is under investigation.
