About Colonel Charles H. Olmstead (CSA)

Served in the Confederate Army during the Civil War as Colonel in Charleston, S.C., and the Port Royal Expeditionary Force, and the Fort Pulaski Investment Troop, 1st Regiment. He surrendered Fort Pulaski to the Union on April 11, 1862. He was released due to a prisoner exchange.

He commanded Smith's Brigade (attached to Forrest's command at Murfreesboro) at the Battle of Nashville.

Published an address to the Georgia Historical Society on March 3, 1879 entitled "Reminiscences of Service with the 1st Vol. Regt. of Georgia in Charleston Harbor, in 1863."

Elder in the Presbyterian Church.
