About Colonel John Sinclair

COLONEL JOHN SINCLAIR (aka JOHN WILLIAMSON)

Colonel John Sinclair is the eldest son of William Sinclair, Master of Seba and Brobster, and his wife Barbe Halcro. According to Roland William Sinclair's account of the Sinclairs in Sweden and Alsace, he went to Sweden in 1641, where he rose to the rank of Colonel of an infantry regiment. He is reported to have been killed in 1656, during the siege of Thorn in Poland. His issue are said to have established themselves in Germany, where his male descendants became extinct in the person of his grandson, Louis Sinclair. The Saint-Clairs of the Isles etc., p. 318
