Corbin Leftwich "Sunshine" Wilson

Corbin Leftwich Wilson "Sunshine", 87, of Roanoke passed away Saturday, July 5, 2014.

He was born in Roanoke, May 3, 1927 the son of the late Elisha and Carlie Leftwich Wilson. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Claudine "Tootsie" Wilson, great granddaughter, Kathryn Davis and son-in-law, Rick Wallace.

He proudly served his country in the US Navy during WWII. He was an active member of Oakland Baptist Church since 1951. He served as a Deacon, Chairman of the Property Committee, Trustee, Assistant Treasurer and also sang in the choir for 58 years.

Corbin was a retired Captain of the Roanoke City Fire Department with over 32 years of service. He also served on the Board of Fire Appeals. He treasured the friendships that were made during his time working there. Corbin loved playing golf, spending time with his family and being around people.

He is survived by his beloved wife and friend, Demarris Ann Stinnette Wilson; daughters, Pamela Provow and her husband, Kevin, Dottie Wallace; step-sons, Mark Pinkard and his wife, Deana, Tim Pinkard, Greg Pinkard and his wife, Teresa; grandchildren, Nancy Lee and her husband, Ted, Melissa Davis and her husband, Chris, Chad Wallace and his wife, Lindsay, Bradley Provow and his wife, Jessica, Carlie Linde and her husband, Dietrich, Jordon Pinkard and his wife, Kaitlyn, Kristen Pinkard, Joshua Pinkard, Mary Pinkard, Cameron Pinkard, Katie Leslie, Kyle and Sara Hackett; great grandchildren, Ryan Davis, Dustin Lee, Jeffrey Davis, Megan Lee, Rileigh and Jaxon, Zoe Wallace and Chase Wallace; special aunts, Marie Creasey and Ruth Cundiff and brother-in-law, John Stinnette.

Also many special friends, church members and former co-workers including, Betty McLawhorn, Harold Cornett and Sonny Hubble; brother-in-law, John Stinnette.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to 8 West Nursing Staff at Carilion Clinic and the 2 West Nursing Staff and Caregivers at Virginia Veteran's Care Center.

Funeral Services celebrating his life will be 1:00 PM Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at Oakland Baptist Church. The Rev. Scotty Carpenter and the Rev. Kelly Dampeer will officiate. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
