About Cornelius Janse van Rensburg
Cornelius "Neels" Janse van Rensburg (1944 - 2012)
Brief overview:
Neels (68), who worked at a garage/petrol station in Kragbron, near Sasolburg, was shot dead in an armed robbery, around 17h30 on 30th September 2012.
Neels tried to hide the cash drawer, whilst pressing the security alarm. He was shot in the neck at close range, and the bullet hit a main artery. He died in his wife Bettie's arms.
The couple had been married for 43 years. Peet Swanepoel, the security chief of the group to which the garage belongs, says two men entered the office and one immediately pulled out a firearm and demanded money.
