Corrie (46), a South African boxing champion, was at a lodge in Brits enjoying a family get-together for his nephews 21st birthday, at the Thatch Haven restaurant, when he was shot, on 22 September 2012. Around 19h45 three armed gunmen entered the restaurant and shot randomly. Corrie was shot twice - in his arm and stomach. He was rushed to Kalafong hospital but died in the early hours of the morning. His ex-wife, Sunette, said the robbers came into the restaurant and started kicking and slapping people. They fled with a digital camera and also a handbag of one of the people who was in the restaurant. Three Zimabweans were arrested - Samuel Mabena (28), Paida Fish (19) and Chris Moyo (20), and were sentenced to 30 years imprisonment for his murder.
