Cornelius came to Union County, NM in May of 1940.

He first married Katie Dick on November 22, 1906. She preceded him in death in April of 1928 in Hooker, OK. They had 6 children: John C., Herbert D., Alvin, d. in infancy; Martha Jane, Verna May, and Roland.

He married his second wife, Mrs. Agnes Franz on June 19, 1933.

Preceded in death by parents, first wife and 3 sisters.

He is survived by wife; 3 sons: John C. and Herbert C., Hooker, OK; Roland, Amarillo, TX; 2 daughters: Mrs. Martha Jane Croft, Artesia, NM; Mrs. Verna Schroeder, Adams, OK; and by 3 step-sons: Marvin Franz, Clayton, NM; Wilbur Franz, Fort Worth, TX; and Martin Franz, Seneca, NM; and by 2 step-daughters: Mrs. Elvina Harder, Clayton, NM and Mrs. Thelma Donohoo of Midland, Texas.
