About Cpl. John Stauffer Greiner
John S. Greiner, 83, of 124 Cold Spring Road, Elizabethtown, died Friday at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Lebanon after a brief illness. He was a carpenter for Wohlsen Construction, Lancaster, and B&G Lumber Co., Elizabethtown, retiring in 1979. A veteran of World War II, he was a corporal in the U.S. Army Air Corps, serving in the China-Burma-India region. He was a life member of Post 5956, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Post 419 of the American Legion, both of Manheim. Greiner was also a member of the Mastersonville Fire Co., the McCook Army Airbase Historical Society in McCook, Neb., and Chiques Church of the Brethren, Manheim. Born in Rapho Township, he was the son of the late Eli G. and Annie Stauffer Greiner. He was married 48 years last August to Dorothy S. Sprout Greiner. Surviving besides his wife are two sons, John T. and Kenneth L., both of Elizabethtown; a daughter, Sharon B., wife of Gary L. Williams of Elizabethtown; and four grandchildren.
