Curtis H. Bailey, 85, of Cedar Hill Road, died Sunday at his home. A retired farmer and a native of Madison County, he had been a resident of Buncombe County since 1947. He was a son of the late John and Dovie Wilson Bailey. Surviving are his wife, Mildia Burnetta Lowe Bailey, to whom he had been married 65 years; nine daughters, Bertha Dockery, Margaret Crowder, Louise Meeker, Dollie Warren, Ruby Elledge, Gladys Huffman and Dorothy Lee Brown of Asheville, Faye Clement of Candler and Earlene Hensley of Cleveland, Tenn.; five sons, Grady and Albert Bailey of Old Fort, Paul Bailey of Marion, Everett Bailey of Candler and Howard Bailey of Chapel Hill, Tenn., a sister Flota Payne of Marshall; two brothers, Hardy Bailey of Old Fort and Jesse Bailey of Marshall; 62 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Services will be held in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home. The Rev. Charles Sprinkle will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
