Curtis William "Bill" Mahannah, 82, died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2004, in the English Valley Care Center after a long illness with Parkinson's disease. Celebration of Life services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service, North English, by Pastor Don Ridenour. Burial: North English Cemetery, with military rites. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

He is survived by his wife, Gilma, of 60 years.

Curtis William (Bill) Mahannah April 09, 1922 - November 03, 2004 North English, Iowa Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. November 06, 2004 at Powell Funeral Home North English–Curtis William (Bill) Mahannah was born April 9, 1922 in North English, Iowa, the son of Ernest (Bing) and D. Lorene Hardy Mahannah. He graduated from North English High School. Bill was united in marriage to Gilma May Carder on December 11, 1943 at the Christian Church in North English. He served in WWII in the Air Force from 1942 to 1944. He was a fighter pilot in the CBI Theater. Bill was a life long resident of North English where he owned and operated Graham Hardware for over 40 years retiring in 1993. He also was a flight instructor and had his commercial flying license from 1958 to 1968. He was a member of the Christian Church, VFW and the Commercial Club. Bill enjoyed playing golf and of course flying. Bill died Wednesday, November 3, 2004 at the English Valley Care Center in North English after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease at the age of 82 years, 6 months and 25 days. He is survived by his wife Gilma of 60 years; a son: Ron (Gloria) Mahannah of Dubuque; two grandsons: Ryan Mahannah of Rochester, Minnesota and Kyle Mahannah of UNI at Cedar Falls and a sister: Mary Coxe of North English. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and a son Rod Mahannah. Celebration of Life Service will be Saturday, November 6, 2004 at 10:30 A.M. at the Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North English. Officiating is Pastor Don Ridenour. Burial is in the North English Cemetery with military rites. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 P.M. on Friday at the Funeral Home.
