About Cyrus Baldwin
Cyrus Baldwin, 1st child of Loammi Baldwin and Mary Fowle, was b. in Woburn, Mass. c.1774., settled in Middlesex Village, Mass. He m. ELIZABETH SUMNER VARNUM, dau of Bradley Varnum and Rachel Butterfield, and owned for many years the farm where grew the "Baldwin Apple". He was, for many years, the agent of the Middlesex Canal Company, and resided at the head of the canal in Chelmsford. He was appointed inspector and sealer of gunpowder at the factory which was first Hale's and afterwards Whipple's, at Lowell.
They had one child who died May 28,1815. His estate, late of Chelmsford, went, in 1837, to his brothers and sisters.
