About Cyrus Putnam Burk

~• sometimes rendered Cyrus Burke (1860 census)

~• Part of the Jenneville community, until his house on French Hill, above the Sebastian C. Jenne farm, burned down. It seems he was a renter there in the 1860s. Sebastian Cabot Jenne came in the night leading a winter-time rescue of the family. This was all the more natural as Mr. Burk and Mr. Jenne were kinfolk through the Cabot line.

~• from the Vermont Journal (Bradford, Vermont)15 Sep 1883, SatPage 5:
"We noticed a fine pair of fat oxen owned by Mr. C.P. Burk on their way to market Monday. Between the Burks, Britons and the Frenches, all the good eating beef is gathered up and sent to Boston while all the grass fed steers and farrow cows are only left to grace our country carts."

Was also a lister for Hartland elected in the year 1880 along with A.B. Burk who was elected town agent.

In 1887: severely injured while working as a meat peddler (thrown from wagon)

~• The old photo, probably much later that their residence, of the hillside including their residence shows a tiny house, a large sheep barn and a small mill bldg. over the brook. (I was told all about this by Clyde Jenne, town clerk in the early 21st century {Michael M. van Beuren} profile manager.
