Mr Peter Thomas Ollis was a Civilian Contractor for the US Government as a General Foreman with Raymond Morrison Knudsen and J.A. Jones Construction. He was reported to have died of a Heart Attack in Nha Trang, Vietnam, 1 June 1969, on his second tour in Vietnam.

OBITUARY: PETER T OLLIS. Deter T. Ollis of Route 2, Newland, died in Nha Trang, Vietnam, 1 June. He was the General Foreman for Raymond Morrison Knudesen and J.A. Jones construction company. He was on his second tour of working in Vietnam. He was the Son of Joseph Taylor Ollis and Delzie Mace Ollis.

Surviving are the widow, Mrs Edith Moody Ollis; one daughter, Billy Joe Dale of New Orleans, La,; four sons, Deter Jr, of Cleveland, Ohio, Buddy of Spruce Pine, Route 2; Richard of Somersworth, New Hampshire, and Hary Ollis of Route 2; the mother, Delzie Ollis of Newland, Route 3, four brothers, Baxter of Newland, Route 3, Jim and Clayton of Route 2, Newland, and Don Ollis of Akron, Ohio; four sisters, Mrs Sadie Wiseman of Morganton, Mrs Berta Vance of Linville Falls, Mrs Carrie Gouge of Celo, and Mrs Mae Vance of Newland, Route 2, and 15 Grandchildren.

The Reverend James Cornett and the Reverend Charles McKinney will officiate. Burial will be in the Green Valley Cemetery. Pallbearers wil be Mac McKinney, Kenneth Vance, Robert Young, Ernest Riddle and Guy and Joseph Ollis.
