About Dale Howard Kingma
OBITUARY
DALE H. KINGMA MUNSTER, IN/LANSING, IL,
Dale Howard Kingma passed away suddenly Monday, October 8, 2012. Dale was born in Lansing, IL on February 22, 1935. He graduated from Thornton High School and, as a talented pitcher, was recruited by the Baltimore Orioles. Unfortunately, he was sidelined by a severe elbow injury. Dale enlisted in and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Air Force. On February 20, 1960, he married his sweetheart, Shirley Griffiths. The following year, Dale and Shirley celebrated the birth of their son, David John. Dale was employed by and retired from Pleasant View Dairy in Highland. He developed many friendships at the dairy and was known and loved by his customers "back in the day" when milk was delivered to your doorstep. After retirement, he and Shirley were fortunate to be able to divide their time between Munster and Largo, FL. An avid sports fan, Dale loved golfing and was a die-hard Bears and White Sox fan. He enjoyed coaching David's baseball games and attending youth sporting events, cheering on his grandson, nephews and friends' kids. Dale was preceded in death by his mother, Rose Schoon Kingma; step-mother, Mary; father, John; brothers: Jimmy and Douglas (Della); mother and father-in-law: Mary Ann and David Griffiths; and several other relatives and friends. Dale is survived by his devoted wife, Shirley; beloved son, David (Lorianne); loving grandson, Connor; nieces, nephews, and loads of friends. Visitation with the family will be Thursday, October 11, 2012 from 2:00-5:00 and 7:00-9:00 PM at the Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Road, Lansing, IL. A memorial service will be held Friday, October 12, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Munster Christian Reformed Cemetery, Munster. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice. Dale treasured his family and understood the true meaning of friendship. He was a "Regular" at Munster Donut Shop for many years. Dale never met a stranger, was dearly loved, and will be greatly missed by all who knew him, particularly his family. In honor of Dale, share a joke or memory, laugh out loud, have a cup of coffee, and treasure a moment. GO BEARS!!! GO SOX!!!
