About Dale Roberts
Dale Roberts (1958 - 2008)
Brief overview:
Dale (50), a caretaker at the Divine Connection Ministries, on the Uitzight holdings in western Pretoria, was shot during an armed robbery.
Originally from Zimbabwe, Roberts was in his bedroom inside the church at the time. Willie Hatting (55), the church's project manager, said the perpetrators broke two ventilation plates from the church's wall with a crowbar to gain access to the church. Hattingh's wife, Ida (52), found Roberts' body on Tuesday morning. She said she unlocked the church at 7:45 p.m. “Sometimes Dale is already awake when I come in, but that day the door was still closed. “I noticed the desk drawers were open. It was then that my husband screamed there had been a break-in,” she said. She then ran to Roberts' room and knocked on the door. "I opened the door and saw him bent over beside his bed. When I felt him, he was already cold. He must have bled to death because the bedding was full of blood."
The robbers fled with a broken kettle, tea bags, a small radio and the victim's new sneakers. Capt. Police spokesperson Bonginkosi Msimango said police were investigating a murder case.
