The last documented soldier of the revolution

Daniel F. Bakeman, the last pensioned survivor of the war of the Revolution, was born in Schoharie County, N. Y., September 28, 1759; died in Freedom, Cattaraugus County, N. Y., April 5, 1869, aged 109 years, 6 months, and 8 days; and thus one of the heroes of the Revolution lived to see Lee surrender at Appomattox and to see Alaska purchased from Russia and added to the Union.

He also had the longest marriage in U.S. history. Daniel was 12 years of age and his wife Susan was 14 years of age when they married. Their marriage lasted for 91 years, 12 days, the longest-ever recorded marriage. Susan died at age 105 in 1863.
