The author has been entirely unsuccessful in obtaining absolute proof of the parentage of Daniel, but is fully convinced that they were the sons of Ephraim and Elizabeth who were born in Watertown. All accounts agree that the Windham County Conn. Bemis's were from Watertown, and both Records agree that the Windham and Hampton Bemis's were from there; and, as the date perfectly agree, of removal and settlement, it is a fair and honest assumption that the line of descent is correct.
