About Daniel A. Chimel
DILLSBURG — Daniel A. Chimel, 89, of Dillsburg, passed away Thursday, April 9, 2015, at Elmcroft of Dillsburg.
He was born in Kulpmont, April 1, 1926, a son of the late Anthony and Mary (Koscinsca) Chimel.
Dan attended St. Casimir and graduated from Kulpmont High School.
He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in World War II. He was honorably discharged in 1946.
He married Adeline Profit in 1950, who preceded him in death. Dan later married Cecile (Perry) Lenig in 1973, who survives him.
Dan worked as a passenger airline pilot for All American, Capital, Modern and Allegheny Airlines, and later worked as an air traffic controller at the Harrisburg Airport.
Dan attended St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mechanicsburg and was a member of the American Legion.
Dan is survived by three daughters, Virginia Chimel, Rita Sherman and Cristina Speicher; three sons, Joseph, David and Daniel; and two stepsons, James Perry and Scott Perry. He also is survived by 15 grandchildren and a sister, Elaine.
