Y-DNA Haplogroup: R-M269
In 1888, Daniel Downing emigrated with his wife and children from Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada, to Boston, Massachusetts, USA. The family resided in the Jeffries Point area of East Boston, and primarily at 120 Everett Street. Daniel died in the Wakefield, Massachusetts, home of his son, John Downing, following a nine-month battle with prostate cancer. Although several relatives believe Daniel was born on January 1, 1845, the death record filed by his funeral director (see "Media" tab above) indicates Daniel was born in 1847 and that he died at the age of 68 on December 5, 1915. Daniel's baptismal record also suggests a birth date of January, 1845.
