Daniel Huff was born about 1720 probably in either New Jersey or Pennsylvania. He was married 4 March 1741 in Burlington, New Jersey to Mary Worley. No proof has been found as to her birth or parentage. She died in Orange County, North Carolina circa 1758. Daniel's occupation at the time of marriage was carter. He lived both in Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania and in New Jersey before removing to North Carolina where he was a farmer. In 1755 he was a taxpayer in Orange County, North Carolina and he was married there second circa 1760 to Ann Pike. She was born 11 Feb 1735 in Pasquotank County, North Carolina, the daughter of John and Abigail (Overman) Pike. She died after 1791 probably in stokes County, North Carolina. Daniel removed to Surry County, North Carolina and lived in that portion which in 1789 became Stokes County. He purchased 280 acres of land in 1776 located on both sides of Muddy creek. His last land holding was 100 acres which was willed to his son John. Daniel made his will 31 Aug 1791 naming his wife Ann and his nine children.
