In 1900 Daniel was 6 years old and was living with his parents and siblings in South Fork, Saline County, Nebraska, on Traverse Street, and they were listed as follows in the U.S. Federal Census record: Henry, 51, Mary, 30, Henry F., 14, William, 13, Mary, 11, Sadie, 9, Conrad, 8, Daniel, 6, Alvina, 4, and Lena, 1 year old. His father was born in Germany, his mother in Illinois, and their first 3 children in Illinois, and the rest in Nebraska. Henry was working as a farmer. He had come to America in 1872, and owned his own farm free from a mortgage.

The family was still living in South Fork in 1910 and were listed as follows in the census: Henry, 65, Mary, 41, Henry, 25, Mary, 11, Conrad, 18, Daniel, 16, Alvina, 14, Caroline, 11, August, 10, Arthur, 8, and Nettie, 4 years old. Henry was still farming, as were his sons, Henry, Conrad and Daniel.

On June 5, 1917, when Daniel completed his U.S. world War I Draft Registration Card, he was 23 years old, single, and was living in Western, Nebraska, and working as a farmer for his father. He was described as being tall and slender with light brown eyes and hair.

Ten years later Daniel was in Pinal County, Arizona, where he married Alma Ida Dill on April 17, 1927, who was 22 years old. She had been living in Casa Grande, Pinal County, Arizona, and had been married before to Mr. McMullen. They were listed in the 1930 census living in South Fork, Nebraska, as follows: Daniel, 36, Alma I., 25, and her son, Harry R. McMullen, 7 years old. Daniel was working as a farmer. Alma was born in Germany and her son in California. She had come to America from Germany in 1904 and had been naturalized.

Daniel and Alma had one son, Kenneth, born May 20, 1932, in Chappell, Nebraska, but Alma passed away in 1934 two years after their son was born. In the 1940 census Daniel was 46 years old and living in Swan, Deuel County, Nebraska, and was a 46 year old widower working as a farmer, and living with him was Erwin A. Dirks, 25, who was listed as a lodger and a farm laborer. Daniel's son, Kenneth, was living in East Grange, Malheur County, Oregon, with Daniel's sister, Mary, 52, and her husband, Emil Henke, 56. Living next door to them was August Kochsmeier, Daniel and Mary's brother, 39, and his wife, Mary, 35, and their two children, Arlene, 7, and Carol, 3. Both Emil and August were farming.

In 1942 when Daniel completed his U.S. World War II Draft Registration Card he was living in Swan, Nebraska, and was described as being 5'-5" tall, 176 pounds, with gray hair, hazel eyes and a ruddy complexion. He was 48 years old, having been born February 26, 1894, in Saline County, Nebraska.

Daniel passed away August 7, 1968, at the age of 75, in Julesburg, Sedgwick, Colorado, and was buried in the Ovid Cemetery in Ovid, Colorado. His son, Kenneth Junior Kochsmeier, died at the age of 60 on December 7, 1992, in Malheur County, Oregon. His wife was named Maylin and they had 2 children, although in May of 1974 he married Susan Patrick in Malheur County, Oregon.

Kenneth's son, Kenneth Wayne Kochsmeier, was born June 19, 1952, and was living in Idaho in 1987, San Francisco, California, in 1988, Long Beach, California, in 1993, and Vale, Oregon, in 1994. He married Christine Marie Schmeidel June 18, 1999, in Malheur County, Oregon. He passed away October 9, 2017, in St. Marie's Idaho. He had two sons, Bobby and Danny. He married his wife Shirley "Lee' June 8, 2013.
