Daniel was the son of Daniel Shoop and Susan Albright Shoop, of Enders, PA. His first wife was Catherine Enders, daughter of John Enders (1800-1872) and Sarah Ettinger Enders (1802-1873). They had 8 children. After Catharine died, Daniel married her younger sister, Mary Enders Sweigard on Nov. 13, 1881, the widow of Aaron Sweigard.
