He married Nancy L. DOLLAR she was born Apr 06 1844. She was the daughter of John W. DOLLAR and Mary Ann NELSON. She married Daniel T. WOODSON Mar 23 1870, he died in 1902.

He enlisted in May, 1862, in the Confederate army first in the cavalry and then in the infantry. It was rumored that he was a member of a foraging force throughout the war.

In the year of 1882 Daniel Woodson bought a cotton-gin, family rumor states that in such endeavors Mr. Woodson was very successful. Daniel became a widower in 1870. He raised his two sons from this marriage James M. and Joseph Y. alone until he was married six months later to N. L. Dollar. Woodson and Dollar had five children: Phillip C., Mary L., Bula L., Zula B. and Bertha D. The couple also raised his motherless sons James M. and Joseph Y. well into adulthood.
