About Darwin Claude Hamblin
Darwin (Pop) Hamblin, age 83, passed away peacefully Thursday morning, February 22, just after 3 fighter jets flew over his window view at Brighton Gardens. Darwin served as a Navy fighter pilot in WW2, before beginning a career in agriculture. He was a ranch manager for many years before beginning a second career as a professor of agriculture at Modesto Junior College in California. Darwin was an adventurer at heart and was happy to reach the top of Pikes Peak last summer. He was a teller of great tales and taught the art of embellishing fish catches to his grandchildren.
Darwin is survived by his son Leslie (and Sharon) Hamblin of Colorado Springs, daughter Claudia (and Ric) Katnik of Springfield, Virginia, four grandchildren and three great grand children. Darwin will be buried next to his wife, Dorthie, in Modesto, California, where they were both members of the Salida Congregational Church. Darwin's family wishes to express our sincere appreciation to the excellent staff at Brighton Gardens for the great care you gave to our Pop. We so appreciate the attention and friendship you extended to him and to us at the end of his life.
