"The News-Herald" Hillsboro, Ohio, December 12, 1895, Page 4 Image 4 Obituary New Market, on December 3, lost one of her oldest citizens, David Ashmore. He was 85 years of age and spent 65 years of that in the service of the Lord. He was an exhorter for fifty years. His active life was spent three miles south of Hillsboro on the Patterson farm. When age crept on him Mr. John Patterson gave him a house and lot near New Market. After Mrs. Patterson's death, he moved to New Market, where he died. He was always found in the house of God on the Sabbath day. It mattered not what stormy the weather, you could see him wending his way to the church where he was always ready to speak for Him who had bought his soul's salvation with His own blood. He came down to the close of life with a calm peace like that we are taught shall come to the children of God. The last thing he did while here below was to ask his attendant if he would like for him to pray for him. Receiving an answer in the affirmative he asked God to pour out His blessings upon, and earnest besought God that His spirit might lead him into paths of truth and righteousness. With this he closed his eyes and peacefully passed into the home prepared for those who put their trust in the Lord.* Reference: Find A Grave Memorial - SmartCopy: Dec 13 2019, 6:57:30 UTC
