About David Behrend
David G. Behrend, 54, a detective in the Identification Bureau of the City Police Department, died Wednesday at St. John's Hospital. Mr. Behrend was born in Springfield, June 6, 1905, attended Springfield High School and was employed at Sangamo Electric Co. before joining the police force May 27, 1943. The police detective was a member of the Policemen's Benevolent Protective Assn., the Illinois Police Assn. and the International Assn. for Identification and the Assn. for Auto Theft Investigation. He also was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and AF & AM in Springfield.
Surviving are his wife Flora; and two aunts, Miss Frieda C. and Miss Augusta D. Behrend.
Funeral services will be held at Staab Funeral Home with burial in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
