Decatur Herald 1/4/1908:
David Blalock died at 5:15 o'clock Friday afternoon at his home in Mt. Zion, a few hours after the death of his wife. Death was due to pneumonia, following illness of several days. Mr. Blalock was not even told of his wife's illness and the news of her death was kept from him by instructions of his physicians, who felt the shock would destroy the last hope of his recovery.
The funeral of Mrs. Blalock was to have been held Saturday morning but has been postponed until 1 o'clock Sunday morning at which time the double funeral will be held. The bodies of husband and wife will be buried in the same grave at Mt. Zion cemetery. Funeral services will be held at the Cumberland Presbyterian church and will be conducted by the Rev. B. E. Williams, pastor of the Methodist church, assisted by the Rev. W. S. Nealy.
