About David Gower Branham, Sr.

David Branham was the son of John Branham, Sr and Rachel Webb Gower. He was born in 1735 in Farnham Parish, Richmond County, Virginia. He died before January 1825 in Floyd County, Kentucky. He married twice and had children with both wives.

David Branham married (1) Susan Burbridge, daughter of Thomas Burbridge and Sarah Sharpe. She was born in 1739 in Orange County, Virginia and died in 1825 in Floyd County, Kentucky. He married (2) Frances Baskett, born about 1740, possibly in Ireland but most likely in Virginia..

David Branham served as militiaman, Captain Johathan Isom's Company, Montgomery County Militia in the Revolutionary War. in 1778. He is listed on the Montgomery County tax list for 1782. By 1788 he had 221 acres on Greasy Creek, Montgomery County, Virginia. He had 172 acres on the south side of Little River in Montgomery County, Virginia. on 19 November 1789.

By 1796 he had moved to Kentucky, settling on Big Mud Creek. in Floyd County. He had a survey done on Big Mud Creek, when he bought 40 acres from David Morgan for $40. on 9 March 1812 at Floyd County, Kentucky. He sold 143 acres on Big Mud Creek to Stephen Howell for $150. on 2 August 1819 at Floyd County,
