Biography

He was born on 22 Aug 1680 in Rehoboth, Bristol County, Massachusetts [1] [2] and his parents were Ceperianus (Bliss) and Nathaniel Chaffe

David Chaffe(e) and Patience Atherton (Adington in the town records) recorded a marriage intention on 07 Apr 1708 in Rehoboth, Bristol County, Massachusetts. [1] [2] She was the daughter of Watching Atherton. [2]

After the death of his wife, Patience, in January 1731/2, David consented for their children to be given unto the guardianship of their Uncle Samuel Atherton. [2]

David was a husbandman and yeoman, and a successful mill owner and operator. He bought and sold land, providing his children with farms after him. [2] [3]

David Chaffe(e) and Mrs. Hannah Pidge of Attleboro, recorded a marriage intention on 28 April 1733 at Rehoboth [1] and Attleboro, Massachusetts. [4]

He died on 25 Feb 1750 in Rehoboth, Bristol County, Massachusetts [1] [2] and was buried in the section of Rehoboth that is now part of Seekonk, Rhode Island. [2] From the cemeteries current description, it would be the Newman Cemetery in East Providence, Rhode Island, USA.

His widow Hannah remarried to Capt. John Hoyle of Providence, Rhode Island.
