David James Cockrill

David James Cockrill b. 19 Feb 1919 Cincinnati, Harrison Co. IA d. 7 May 1985 Orange County, CA. m. Mary Besse Monroe on 26 Dec 1940 in Ray Co MO. She died 1 Apr 1997 in Scotland Co MO.
Was an Elementary School Principal at Horace Mann Elementary School, in Rochester, MN, for 28 years. He was the principal at Hawthorn Elementary, for the four years preceding his retirement. David had a military leave of absence from 1950 to 1953, from the Rochester, MN school system to teach ROTC at the University of Minnesota. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in social studies from Northeast Missouri State Teacher's College in 1940, and then a Master's degree in Elementary Supervision and Administration in 1947 and a Doctorate of Education degree in the same field in 1949 from the University of Missouri. He taught in Williamsburg, IA from 1940 to 1942. David was in the Army during World War II, he served in China, on the Burma road. He was called back into service for the Korean Conflict.
