1. David DAILEY was born 1746 in Colchester, Connecticut, was christened 27 Apr 1746 in Westchester Ch, Ct., and died BEF 7 Jan 1818 in Lisbon, Grafton, New Hampshire, USA. He was the son of 2. Benjamin DAILEY and 3. Elizabeth CLOTHIER.

He married Lydia BADGER in Norwich, New London, Connecticut, USA. She was born 1755 in Norwich, New London, Connecticut, USA.

Note:

MILITARY SERVICE: Revolutionary Soldier.

He served with his father-in-law as a private in Capt. Benjamin Hasting's co., Col. Asa Whitcomb's (23rd) regt.;order for bounty coat or its equivalent in money dted Putney, VT, 30 Jan 1776. Was in Putney and Westminster VT with wife's family, and with his brother Elijah, then to Lisbon, NH, then to Newbury, VT.

His name does not appear on the records of Lisbon, NH, but the genealogical records from there refer to him as "Badger Dailey," thus distinguishing him from the three other David Daileys in Lisbon.

In 1781 he bought land from Gideon Badger in Westminster, VT, and sold it in 1787. In April 1787 he purchased land in Franconia, NH, which he sold in 1792 as a resident of Franconia, yeoman, and also in partnership with Gideon Badger. In 1799 he received a settler's lot in Concord from the Proprietors. There are several more deeds, some in partnership with Gideon Badger, all signed as yeoman or husbandman. On 26 March 1817, "David Dailey, Jr, innkeeper" gives a mortgage deed to William Brackett of Littleton, trader, to 50 acres of the south side of River Lot #9, "being a part of the lot my father and brother now live on." On 7 Jan. 1818, David Dailey, husbandman, sells the farm he lives on bounded by the "farm lately owned and occupied by my late father David Dailey, and now improved by Benjamin Dailey." On 30 June 1829, Benjamin Dailey gives a bond to his mother Lydia Dailey, with provisions for her support during her natural life. These deeds show that David, father of David and Benjamin, died between 26 Mar 1817 and 7 Jan. 1818. The date of this David Dailey's birth has not been found, but as he paid a poll tax in 1817, he had not passed the age of 70;in 1818 his widow was taxed for the same property. No gravestone nor probate record exists.
