A private memorial service was held on Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2001 in Pismo Beach. Burial will be in Knollwood Memorial Gardens, Manitowoc.

He was born July 6, 1928 in Manitowoc, son of the late Erwin K. and Mary Ann (Engleson) Fanta. He served in the Army and graduated from Principia College in 1952. He married Shirley Alice Levey on June 16, 1955 in New Orleans, La., and the couple moved back to Manitowoc in 1957. She preceded him in death on December 8, 1984. For 35 years David was employed as a purchasing manager at Metal Ware Corp. in Two Rivers, retiring in 1991.

An avid Packer fan, he was a season ticket holder for over 20 years.

David was a model of growth and fulfillment in retirement. He learned how to fly an airplane, traveled the country visiting family, took educational tours overseas, and spent winters in Palm Desert, Calif. and Honolulu, Hawaii.
