David Joseph Gruber/Groover (a) was born Jan. 1, 1777 (b) in Ebenezer, St. Matthews Parish (Effingham County), Georgia (c), son of John and Maria "Mary" Magdalene (Kalcher) Gruber/Groover.

On May 17, 1799, he married Martha Sheffield. Their children include Honor

On May 15, 1846, David Groover (a) died in Bulloch County, Georgia. Burial site is unverified.

Footnotes: (a) The last name seems to become Americanized to Groover. (b) Census implies 1775 and some reference implies Dec. 30, 1778 which clashes with brother, William. (c) Effingham County was created in 1777 from the colonial parishes of St. Matthew and St. Philip.
